2026 Alberta Minimum Wage Rates
General – $15.00/hr
Student – $13.00/hr (first 28 hrs during school)
Salespersons/Professionals – $598.00/week
Domestic (live-in) – $2,848.00/month
Domestic (live-out) – $15.00/hr - Overtime Pay – 1.5× regular rate after 8 hrs/day or 44 hrs/week
- Incentive-Based Pay Top-Up – Employer must top up commissions/bonuses to meet applicable minimums
- Allowable Deductions – Income tax, CPP, EI; union dues; court-ordered; agreed benefits; reimbursed expenses
- Exempt Occupations – Outside salespeople, farm workers, licensed professionals, job-creation student wage roles
- Hours of Work – No set daily/weekly limit under ESA; standard 8 hrs/day, 40 hrs/week customary unless otherwise agreed
- Hazard Assessment, Elimination & Control – Requirements for documented workplace hazard assessments and hierarchy of controls (Sec 07–10)
- Workplace Violence & Harassment – Prevention plan, training, incident investigation per OHS Code Part 27
